PAGE RANKING EXPLAINED

Applies to: Tipue JS

Returned pages and images are ranked according to how often the search words occur and where. Search words score highest if they feature in all elements. The score decreases if the search words are absent in any element.

If you're using XML as a data source you can also weight each page by setting the page's Rank element to a value between 1 and 10. This has the effect of making it return correspondingly higher in a group of results with a similar score. The prominence of the Page Rank value is set via the Rank Seed option.

If two or more pages score the same after or without weighting they appear in the same order as the XML file.
